Annual Monitoring of Pecks Pond Begins

Armijo Pecks Pond 3April 29, 2015: After several weeks of checking on the lingering ice and just before exams, Prof. Laurie Grigg and senior environmental science major Roberto Armijo found a window to head out to Pecks Pond to install a new sediment trap and collect spring water quality data. This was the beginning of a new phase of work on Pecks Pond and the end of two years of work for Roberto on Pecks both as a work-study student and a senior researcher. Deployment of the new trap built by Roberto and water sampling of the pond and surrounding inlets and outlet proceeded without incident with the exception of a couple of very loud geese and a beautiful blue heron spotting. A big thanks to Roberto for all his hard work on Pecks Pond during the past few years!
