The Health Science degree is a pre-professional degree that prepares students to continue their education in one of a variety of different disciplines; including, but not limited to physical therapy, occupational therapy, exercise physiology, and medicine. At Norwich University, Health Science students are guided through the curriculum so that course selection is geared toward their goals.
A degree in Physical Education emphasizes principles, problems and procedures for the improvement of individual and community health. The program provides an introduction to the Physical Education profession, and includes historical and philosophical implications and modern trends in program design with an emphasis on the study of the human body. Professional ethics, client privacy and liability issues are stressed throughout the program. Also covered in the area of ethics is sportsmanship in society and the evolving role of the sports fan.
The Exercise Science degree is professional degree program that provides undergraduate students with the tools to become experts of the human body and the science behind how exercise can impact the human body in a positive manner. A combination of the study of physical exercise and laboratory explorations, the Exercise Science program will have a solid foundation in the natural sciences and will educate highly trained individuals, who are needed to educate people on how to exercise appropriately without causing undue harm.
The Athletic Training degree is a professional degree program, preparing students to sit for the Board of Certification exam at the end of their four years at Norwich University. Student’s progress through a hands on curriculum that is specifically geared towards producing qualified and competent Athletic Trainers.
